Episode Description
In this episode we speak to Millie Kendall MBE/OBE on brand purpose, diversity and inclusivity in the beauty industry. We explore where the industry is progressing or lagging and how the British Beauty council is helping elevate the agenda. Millie will also share some of her career highlights and passion that drove her to create the Ruby & Millie brand.
Millie Kendall is a true champion and pioneer of the beauty category. In 1998 she co-founded the brand Ruby & Millie, in the process challenging the existing category norms by launching their mid priced brand simultaneously in high end beauty retailers as well as Boots. Completely unique in the 1990s, this approach remains a modern retail strategy to this day.
In 2018 Millie Kendall co-founded the British Beauty Council, a non-profit organisation that aims to support a successful, innovative, and inclusive British beauty industry. The British Beauty Council was founded to represent the voices, opinions and needs of the British beauty industry – from hairdressing to cosmetics, cosmetic surgery, therapy and spa; in education and training; and from formulation to manufacture, supply, logistics packaging, design, retail and media.
